Hospital Staffing Solutions

Hospitality Staffing Solutions is a short-term employment provider or temp agency that sends workers to a variety of hospitality-related organizations. Companies such as restaurants, hotels, colleges, casinos, senior living, and some light industrial establishments rely on workers provided by the company. The organization employs over 10,000 people and earns an estimated $4.3 billion in revenue annually. With so many people involved in this company, it's alarming to learn it's the recent data breach victim. This breach has put countless people at risk, and everyone potentially involved should learn more to find out what information has been leaked and how they can protect themselves.

How Did the Attack Occur?

In-depth information about this breach isn't available, but we know that on March 2, 2023, an unauthorized user was able to get into the company's file network and access documents it didn't have clearance. The same attacker also reaccessed the network on March 30, 2023. Hospital Staffing Solutions wasn't aware of the breach until June 2, 2023. In the time between the breach occurring and the staff realizing it was an issue, a huge number of users were compromised and could have been attacked.

What Information Was Viewed or Stolen?

A great deal of personal information was accessed during this particular data breach. Data such as Social Security numbers, Driver's License numbers, financial account details, full names, home addresses, and more were lost to the breach. These details could be leveraged for identity theft attacks and other attacks on the individuals involved.

How Did Hospital Staffing Solutions Admit to the Breach?

Hospital Staffing Solutions sent individual letters to all of the 104,660 people believed to be impacted by this data breach. Along with those notices, the company contacted the Maine Attorney General on August 1, 2023, to also explain details about the data breach. Between these two types of notices, it's well-known that Hospital Staffing Solutions suffered from a data breach.

What Will Become of the Stolen Information?

We aren't aware of any ransom demands from the attackers that launched this data breach, so it's difficult to say how the stolen information will be used. Some hackers leverage stolen information to launch additional attacks to try and steal account logins, email accounts, and more to access bank accounts, crypto wallets, and other financial accounts. Others attempt identity theft or resell stolen information to other interested hackers. Any of the above could happen with the stolen data, which is why it's essential for the involved individuals to take steps to guard their credit and financial accounts.

What Should Affected Parties Do in the Aftermath of the Breach?

If you receive a notice informing you that your data was involved in this breach, you should take measures to guard your information from misuse. Check your credit for any strange updates and consider investing in a credit monitoring service to keep up with future changes. You can also freeze your credit to prevent future damage from occurring to it. You have effective tools to safeguard yourself from attack between those different measures.
