CyberServe is a Middle-Eastern web hosting company. Their servers provide data storage for individuals and companies, plus their professionals also help with website and app creation.
CyberServe, a web hosting company used by residents of the Middle East, was hacked last fall. The hack resulted in data theft and distribution for sale. In total, hackers accessed more than one million records in the attack.
Black Shadow digital miscreants leaked the stolen data from the app, providing personal details about the company’s customers to identity thieves and other criminals. Black Shadow has conducted similar digital attacks against other websites in the past.
CyberServe responded to the attack by hiring a digital forensics team to piece together the puzzle of data theft. The company apologized to its customer base though it did not provide many details about how the information was stolen. Black Shadow's clandestine means of digital infiltration have not been revealed as of the time of this publication.
Though CyberServe representatives admitted Black Shadow requested a ransom to prevent the exposure of the data to the public and return the files to the company, the media has not been notified if CyberServe paid any ransom.
This breach occurred in October 2021.
The breach impacts CyberServe customers. However, the extent of the damage is not limited to those who do business with the social network. CyberServe suffered a significant blow to its reputation as its flawed digital security protocols, and defenses ultimately allowed hackers to access company files.
The attack impacted over one million files.
