Avamere Health Services is known for having senior living facilities across multiple states. They aim to offer flexibility to each patient and family they work with allowing the patient to dictate his or her own needs accordingly.
Avamere Health Services suffered a newsworthy data breach earlier this year. The electronic attack compromised the healthcare service organization's senior living and skilled nursing services. Furthermore, the breach accessed valuable employee information that has the potential to cause identity theft, financial theft, and additional crimes in the months and years ahead.
Avamere representatives provided precious few details about the breach. However, the company reached out to employees whose information was accessed in the attack, extending an olive branch in the form of no-cost credit monitoring.
The company’s willingness to offer free credit monitoring indicates the data leak was likely related to employees’ financial accounts or other highly sensitive personal information that has the potential to result in a significant monetary loss down the line.
This breach occurred from January to March 2022.
The breach primarily impacts Avamere employees and patients. However, Avamere as a company also suffered a reputational blow due to the hack. Avamere Health Services is now rebranding its senior facilities to Arete Living, presumably in part due to the reputation damage from the breach.
