OneMoreLead is a Business to Business (B2B) marketing company that specializes in leads. Their database is filled with more than 55 million prospects that have been vetted and verified for customers to sort through.
One More Lead, a B2B marketing agency, suffered a significant data breach in the second half of 2021. The late summer attack led to the exposure of 63 million accounts. The accounts were exposed due to a database that was improperly secured on the web. The database contained home addresses, names, phone numbers, employer information, email addresses, and even home computer IP addresses.
The marketing company suffered a data breach due to a misconfigured database. Look at the top hacks from the years gone by, and you will notice a common theme emerging of database misconfigurations leading to hacker infiltrations.
This breach occurred in April 2021.
The breach impacts One More Lead customers. The breach also diminishes the reputation of One More Lead. The potential exists for hackers to communicate with their targets based on the data plucked from the attack.
Hackers will likely use the stolen information to steal targets' identities and manipulate others while posing as those individuals. The victims might also suffer financial fraud in the months ahead, reinforcing the need for regular cybersecurity updates.
It appears as though the breach impacted slightly more than 63 million files. Though some early reports indicated upwards of 100 million or more customer accounts were compromised in the attack, 63 million appears to be the more accurate figure.
