The National Veterinary Associates is a large group of veterinary hospitals in the United States, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. The organization contains more than 1,400 different veterinary hospitals, clinics, and practices and employs over 2,500 veterinarians.

How Did the Breach Occur?

An individual or a group was able to get one of the National Veterinary Associate employees to click on an infected link. That link sent infected files into the NVA network of files and immediately began locking out members of the group from accessing their files. A large portion of the network's files was encrypted and made inaccessible for days and weeks in some instances.

The National Veterinary Associated breach occurred between January 25 and March 11, 2022.

Who Does the Breach Impact?

This data breach impacted tens of thousands of employees at different veterinary practices around the world. Up to 670 hospitals were impacted in some way, and many of the employees, business owners, and patients had their data leaked as a result of the attack. It's possible that serious identity theft issues will occur from the attack and anyone impacted by this breach should watch their financial accounts and credit history closely.
