MGM Grand is a luxury hotel and casino located in Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s only three blocks from Grand Circus Park.
The breach was a hack into the internal systems of MGM Grand. After the hack was discovered, the hotel hired two independent security firms to investigate the breach. It took a few months for the extent of the hack to be seen, but MGM Grand sent notification letters to the affected customers as soon as the investigators verified that they were involved.
The hackers posted the stolen information onto a dark web forum months after the breach. The party that posted the data onto the site is said to have ties to the hacking group GnosticPlayers.
This breach occurred during the summer of 2020.
The breach was said not to impact anyone who stayed at the hotel after 2017. The affected individuals include but are not limited to celebrities, CEOs, tourists, travelers, reporters, and government officials. This is not a complete list, but anyone affected was sent a notification letter, so they are aware of their involvement.
The breach affected over 10 million people that stayed at the hotel. The accessed information included names, emails, home addresses, birthdays, and phone numbers. The affected parties can take some steps to protect you and your information, and we hope that anyone victimized by this or any other breach is happy, healthy, and safe.
