focusIT is a mortgage software company. It was founded in 2002 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Its principal function is to provide services to mortgage lenders, generating approximately 6 million dollars in revenue per year.

What Was the Breach?

The breach was an attack that ended with the social security numbers, names, addresses, and birthdays of the affected customers revealed to the bad actor. focusIT began to send out notification letters to anyone affected by the breach on September 28th, 2022.

How Did the Breach Occur?

The breach resulted from a hack in “a third-party system in the focusIT environment.” The Texas Financial Crimes Intelligence Center contacted the company on August 2nd, alerting them to the breach. focusIT immediately shut down its systems and cooperated with the investigation.
