The breach was an attack that ended with the social security numbers, names, addresses, and birthdays of the affected customers revealed to the bad actor. focusIT began to send out notification letters to anyone affected by the breach on September 28th, 2022.
The breach resulted from a hack in “a third-party system in the focusIT environment.” The Texas Financial Crimes Intelligence Center contacted the company on August 2nd, alerting them to the breach. focusIT immediately shut down its systems and cooperated with the investigation.
This breach occurred on August 2nd, 2022.
From what we know, the breach could have impacted any focusIT customer. We aren’t entirely sure how many people were affected, but we know that focusIT sent letters to everyone concerned. If you received a letter from focusIT, you were affected by the breach and must take the necessary precautions to protect yourself.
Again, we are not entirely sure of exactly how many files – or people – were affected. If you did receive a notification letter, you could use plenty of resources to protect your devices, yourself, and your loved ones. Software titles are specially designed to help in situations like this one.
